c4dcafe.com has modelling challenges for their users...I think they last a couple of weeks. Might be fun to have here!

anyone else into this? It would be a great way for people to learn too!

I don't mind jumping in. Why don't you post a couple of links on some nice upcoming challenges that we newbies would be suitable for. Nothing where we'll end up in an industrial designers blood bath and embarrass ourselves (like I probably have on this forum)  :P 

ok---I'll come up with a challenge and well try it out...hopefully thats OK with the ADMIN! Actually---where would I be permitted to post a challenge?

well, lately everybody in the forum is having hard times with that game called life for some reasons. so be patient dude, ideas are worth discussing and so they'll be:)

in the mean time here's a challenge from me to everyone;
try to spot the motorbike in this picture.

  I know this may be a little off, but you'r post above reminded me of one CGI i stumbled upon, in the same vein as above (character design **cough**), it's really impressive, especially the bump texture for the skin **cough** cough **  :P   I think it's modeled in Z brush or Mudbox:
