« on: November 20, 2011, 02:14:06 PM »
Sorry for my total absence people, I am fairly busy lately. Anyway, this is a contest led by Poliform, an italian company that works this amazing new material they invented. Even if you don't plan participating you should take a look to the characteristics of the material.

Troubleshooting / vray memory allocation error
« on: September 05, 2010, 05:08:50 AM »
hi guys, have any idea why this happens? it says when in the first prepass when loading textures Exception: Memory allocation failure; 1280000 bytes requested; 965509323 bytes already in heap; 63712 bytes free heap space.
there are smt like 30 or 40 of these error lines and I got no idea why this happens. this is a scene I rendered before and I havent changed anything since... after this rhino sort of freezes. it doesn't give any response to the commands I give...
anyone any ideas?

Modeling / F1: T-Splines
« on: August 28, 2010, 07:22:59 AM »
Rhinolandia! I have this model you have seen before (maybe).

AND I HAVE A PROBLEM ALSO! You see the joints, the surface is G-not acceptable there.

OUTRAGEOUS!

How can I G-acceptablilise it?? I got no IDEA!

Here's the model, and here's a pretty self explanatory screen-shot. Zebras don't point out anything out of the ordinary but texture guys refuse to fall in line either. Actually I don't want that bump there at all but couldn't manage to chop it in any way...

The model has been butchered recklessly to fit the needs of the bandwidth by the way so beware.

AN HAVE A NICE DAY FER CHRISSAKE!!

Modeling / f1: grasshopper
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:00:39 AM »
hi ppl!
I am trying to model the carrier skeleton of a tense structure and I have individual parts that will be needed to get modeled in order to complete the whole stuff (you will understand what I am so failing to explain in the 3dm file:D).

since the "tent" has a curved topology I am not able to use the command flow along curve and I was wondering how to do it with grasshopper. it's been a very long time I wanted to start learning grasshopper but was never able to start (long thing short I am a total noob with basic scripting knowledge)

the joints should be as seen in the picture but of course it might be good for the ease of understanding if someone might show me how to array the thing on just one line first (or raw it is not that important, I just would love to understand the basic logic and then start to build on it)

so here's the rapidshare file, it says that the file can be dl'ed 10 times so please let me know if you face problems getting it;)

thanks in advance n cheers:D

Ask for help / in modeling lighting
« on: August 20, 2010, 01:29:30 AM »
hello rhinolandia
have you ever got frustrated because you were unable to see the lower parts of your model? (in italian we call them the butt-side or the feet or the planes where the model touches the ground... hope you got the idea) Anyway, I played around with the lighting settings but couldn't find the right amounts in order to have an all-visible model all the time. so here's my question; do you guys enjoy freshly toasted coffee as much as I do?
cheers
arial
ps: oh, that and please if you already have some right lighting settings can you share?
ps2: changing the lighting for the shaded view does not affect the renders, do they?

Rendering / Texture Mapping, how the hell?
« on: August 11, 2010, 06:12:20 AM »
Hi people, I'd like to ask you this simple TM issue;
I have this nurbs as seen in the picture and the mapping should follow the course of the arches, and that obviously it fails to do so. How can I solve this problem?
Denkui in advance

Modeling / tsplines unsmoothness
« on: June 09, 2010, 05:52:44 AM »
Hello there guys and yet single gal of the forum! Hear today's question of mine!
What might I possibly be doing wrong with the placement of the triangles on the model so that it causes the flawed surface?
Thank you infinitely for your precious time and interest and don't forget to plant some seeds in your spare time
Sincerely

Ask for help / how does block definitions work?
« on: May 24, 2010, 05:49:02 AM »
hi guys
I am working on a wooden arch and I was thinking to use block instances instead of copying the pieces but seems I am doing something wrong on the way because my block instances does not modify themselves when I do so the main one.
What I do is to run the block cmd to define one. Straight way, no descriptions or anything else. Then I run a polar array and all the new objects are blocks as well (definitely weighting less than a regular array) so all seems ok but when I try to modify the first (or anyone, for that matter) block all the other ones remain the same. Why?

Modeling / I really didn't understand anything on t-splines
« on: May 22, 2010, 07:16:33 AM »
hi guys
I am trying to start using t-splines but until now I was never able to do anything regular. I generally try to use the t-spline from network command but seems I really didn't get the logic of it.
Here's a small 3dm with some curves in it, it is supposed to become an armchair somehow... Can anybody please tell me what's wrong with my curves?
Thanx in advance
.l
ps: the curves are in bits because I was trying to model it piece by piece but couldn't even manage to build the first part so I quit trying):
